How much does your personal life flow into your work life and vice versa?
This morning, I rolled across this article exploring work/life balance. The author’s viewpoint is unique in that she considered it important to have some overlap between work and personal life.
“We job-goers like to throw out the term “work/life balance” a lot. In my world, that balance simply isn’t work vs. life; it’s not two separate buckets. It’s more like a work/life Venn Diagram. It has to be. And I’m telling you, I’m the better for this overlap. Let me explain.”
She goes on to let readers know a little bit about herself and her life, detailing how her co-workers and workplace support each other.
Contrary to the usual advice about compartmentalizing your life, the author asks readers to consider the benefits of sharing some of yourself with your co-workers.
I’d tell you more, but then you’d miss out on reading it yourself…
