{"id":3214,"date":"2017-04-17T15:41:45","date_gmt":"2017-04-17T20:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splasmata.com\/?p=3214"},"modified":"2017-07-17T09:01:17","modified_gmt":"2017-07-17T14:01:17","slug":"a-touch-more-color-in-checkbook-2-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splasmata.com\/?p=3214","title":{"rendered":"A touch more color coming in CheckBook 2.6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since the dawn of the CheckBook Era, our use of color\u00c2\u00a0has\u00c2\u00a0been about helping folks identify Deposits vs. Debits at a glance, without thinking too hard. \u00c2\u00a0So when we added the running balance column years ago we decided to not color the individual balance figures because we thought it&#8217;d look a little\u00c2\u00a0messy, unkempt even, a bit more\u00c2\u00a0rainbow stew than helping hand.<\/p>\n<p><em>Besides,<\/em> we thought, <em>a negative balance\u00c2\u00a0has\u00c2\u00a0a negative symbol.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That should do,<\/em> we thought.<\/p>\n<p>Ehhh&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Symbols work in different ways\u00c2\u00a0for different people. \u00c2\u00a0Same thing with color. \u00c2\u00a0Some are just fine with symbols, some need colored amounts. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s really easy to tell when you miss the mark on something like that, when &#8220;should do&#8221;
